The Party Is Over was painted during one of the darkest periods of my life, following a profound personal loss. Until then, I had experienced life largely through love, joy, and light. Suddenly, that world collapsed.
I portrayed myself surrounded by the remnants of a celebration, wearing a clown-like face as a mask to conceal my grief from the outside world. Balloons remain and a broken wine bottle lies at my feet, yet the celebration has become empty.
The work explores grief, identity, and the masks we wear when our inner reality no longer resembles the face we present to others. The world continues around us, but the reality we once inhabited is gone. The party is over.
