Orcco Huaranqa portrays the formidable Inca general from the Quechua drama Ollantay. A loyal commander in Ollantay’s army, Orcco Huaranqa is remembered for leading his warriors to victory against the imperial forces of Rumi Ñahui. Loaiza captures him in a powerful moment of action, advancing through rugged stone ruins with a raised sling as a condor soars overhead. Rendered in the artist’s distinctive blue palette and illuminated with gold accents, the monumental figure embodies courage, strategy, and devotion. Orcco Huaranqa celebrates an Indigenous warrior whose strength and loyalty secure his lasting place in Andean memory.
